Package Format

An .intunewin file is a standard ZIP archive container structured according to Microsoft's Win32 Content Prep Tool specification:

Inner ZIP: Unencrypted archive of your source directory compressed with DEFLATE.
Encryption: AES-256-CBC with PKCS#7 padding using a random 256-bit key and 128-bit IV.
Integrity: HMAC-SHA256 signature calculated over [IV (16 bytes) || Ciphertext].
Payload layout: [HMAC tag: 32 bytes][IV: 16 bytes][Ciphertext], stored at IntuneWinPackage/Contents/IntunePackage.intunewin.
Outer container: Uncompressed ZIP archive wrapping the encrypted payload and IntuneWinPackage/Metadata/Detection.xml.
